Watercolor Blooms - Relaxing Botanical Painting: Black-Eyed Susan
Sarah Raquel, Artist & Designer
About This Class
Hi there, creative friend! Welcome to Watercolor Blooms: Relaxing Botanical Painting Series: a Skillshare class series designed to help you slow down, relax, and learn to paint beautiful flowers with watercolor, one bloom at a time.

Each class features a different flower and combines beginner-friendly watercolor techniques with a calm, approachable painting process. Along the way, you’ll learn how to simplify flowers into easy-to-follow shapes, build beautiful layers of color, and bring each bloom to life while developing your watercolor and botanical painting skills.
In this first class, we’ll be painting one of my favorites, the Black-Eyed Susan, a bright and cheerful summer flower with golden petals and a bold center. I’ll guide you step by step, from a simple sketch and basic shapes to layering watercolor and adding the finishing details.
This class is perfect for beginners, hobby artists, or anyone looking for a relaxing way to practice watercolor, explore botanical painting, and enjoy some mindful creative time.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished Black-Eyed Susan watercolor painting and the confidence to continue exploring the rest of the Watercolor Blooms series.
Whether you’re new to watercolor or simply looking for a peaceful creative practice, I hope this series inspires you to slow down, pick up your brush, and paint one beautiful flower at a time.
Let’s get started!
